Join us on January 27th for yet another Dance Medicine Philly Ecstatic Dance!
We're returning back to our usual time slot 6-9 pm on a Sunday at the Ethical Society
Our DJ for the night, representing local Philly band World Town Soundsystem will be Ben Arsenal. We're excited to welcome Ben back for a second appearance with us!
Our warm-up will be guided by Matthew Nelson. Matthew is visiting from Seattle, WA and facilitates a warm-up he calls Euphoric Dance- blending ecstatic dance, contact improv, and somatic movement meditation- all designed to get you out of your head and into the flow of your body's intrinsic intelligence.
Finally, we'll melt into sound bath to the sweet sounds of PanSong. Sean Youngman of Miss Cantaloupe and Jeremy and Kevin Savo of Out of the Beardspace will come together to form what they call a jazz/handpan ensemble.
The city comes alive for Ecstatic dance. We aim for an electric, grounding, energetic, life giving experience. As we dance, there will be blankets and an altar set out in a lounge area for resting, reflection and relaxation as well as a water cooler for hydrating. Afterwards, we’ll have a short closing circle and then invite everyone to eat some freshly prepared snacks as we say goodbye. .This is a dance as you wish, safe space, absolutely everyone is welcome event. We are substance and alcohol free. We encourage no talking on the dance floor while we are in the flow of the event. This is organized by a group of dance and movement enthusiasts who want to build community through dance and appreciation for healthy living. If you feel called to participate and help out in any way, we welcome you. (send us a message of inquiry.) Volunteers are greatly appreciated. Please invite your friends. This community and experience fosters both indivdual and collective growth. Encourage your friends to join us as we witness our own transformations. Some things to consider bringing: Water bottle, yoga mat, something warm to cover with for the sound healing, drums/rattles, flow toys like hula hoops, juggling balls and poi.
